Minor tweaks and fixes
Feb 20th
I’m still fixing a few things here, trying to get the most out of the new features while recapturing some of the neat look-and-feel of the last incarnation of Occam’s Razr.
I took down the Thoughtful Blather page, as it really was no longer high enough to be thoughtful nor low enough for blather. I did succeed in getting the “My Quotes” to display as they had been intended.
Enjoy.
Little changes

I’m still making incremental changes to the look and feel. I’m still not sold on the new look, so I figured out how to return the sidebar to something a little more familiar. Please share any suggestions or comments about the aesthetics.
I’m also trying to do a little more with video. Since what I do best is rant, you’ll be stuck with whatever it is I want to rant about (until I can set aside the time to set up a real camera and do some nicer video essays.)
In the meantime, I have a good old-fashioned text rant over at Media Bullseye. I am making a concerted effort to not turn Occam’s Razr into a Social Media site, and I’m happy that Chip and Jen think enough of my opinions to host them. This week, I’m bringing light to a gaping hole in the experiences of some of the so-called Social Media Experts.
Enjoy.

I have not abandoned this space, just getting ready for a little renovation.
Meanwhile, I’m still writing, even if it’s subject matter that doesn’t typically land here. Go check out my rant about Social Security.
Site will be down

My site will be down for a little while this afternoon, as will my email. My webhost, Lunarpages, is moving my physical server from LA to San Diego. It’s expected to take less than four hours, and I have had several days notice.
In the years I have been with them, this will be the third downtime I’ve experienced. Period. Of the previous two, one was a server maintenance where I was given two weeks notice, and the other was an unplanned outage of less than three hours.
Not bad at all. That’s why I recommend them to anyone who asks.
(If you do choose to sign up with them at some point, please check with me about my affiliate ID. I am eligible to earn referrals.)
Unplanned Outage
Aug 6th
No mysterious disappearances. I’m just swamped. I’ve got more ideas than I know what to do with, and no time to flesh them out. Some are doozies. And I have had a ball commenting in various places.
Also, things have been a bit slow on the home front, as my 5-year-old PC is showing her age. Sluggish boots, slogging through media, and not enough horsepower to round the next turn. Add our new digital camera with uberpixel technology, and our hard drives are hard pressed to keep up. Not enough slack in them for a defrag.
The replacement has already shipped, which means I might be more efficient in my home use and actually put some skin on the skeletal posts.
The Summertime Blues
Jun 10th
No case of summertime blues here, as life is going very well.
Good for me, but bad for Occam’s RazR that I’ve been busy acclimating to a new job at the same time I’m trying to wrap up freelance projects. One of them involves some serious writing, measured in quantity and quality. Simply put, any creative energy I spend here is less I can spend there.
No worries, though… I have many ideas in the hopper. The fun resumes soon…
Spamnesia

I’ve been blissfully suffering from Spamnesia lately – the complete lack of awareness of spam.
I learned my lesson last night, as I upgraded to WordPress 2.5. In the whole process of the upgrade, my spam-killer plugins (Akismet and Bad Behavior) were out of commission for no more than 90 seconds. Upon re-entry, I had nine spam comments waiting for moderation. That’s a clip of 360/hour.
Reminder: turn full moderation on whenever you deactivate your Spam-killers. And thanks to those WordPress developers who keep me a blissful Spamnesiac.
