As a fan of Ike I must disagree, to a point, Government, when run well, supports fair play in enforcing regs, for example that keep products safe, stop anti-trust practices, eliminate barriers to entry and subsidies… but, well that is the gov. of my dreams… so maybe you are right about what is most likely to happen.
There are cycles over time when our democracy performs – usually when the checks and balances are strongest.
Because, as happens in all sectors,
Power corrupts
Absolute power corrupts absolutely
Well that is not a “happy holidays” sentiment but reflective of some concerns these days
