Getting Around Again
I had a lot of fun hearing from my readers around the globe. If Occam’s RazR readers held hands in a single line, they’d stretch around the Earth! (Assuming of course their arms are all 200 miles long.)
So – here’s another snapshot of my readership:

Last 25 visitors as of this post, and we have:
- Brazil
- France
- U.K.
- Germany
- Canada
Not bad. But ironic, that my closest reader at that moment was in Savannah, Georgia. 333 miles away. The prophet is not celebrated at home…

Truth in Juxtaposition

Often, big thoughts emerge from small coincidences. Interesting thoughts blossom when fed by two divergent influences, the intersections. I saw a pair of Tweets back to back today, and they got me thinking. .bbpBox27140549164 {background:url(http://s.twimg.com/a/1286563368/images/themes/theme1/bg.png) #C0DEED;padding:20px;} p.bbpTweet{background:#fff;padding:10px 12px 10px 12px;margin:0;min-height:48px;color:#000;font-size:18px !important;line-height:22px;-moz-border-radius:5px;-webkit-border-radius:5px} p.bbpTweet span.metadata{display:block;width:100%;clear:both;margin-top:8px;padding-top:12px;height:40px;border-top:1px solid #fff;border-top:1px solid #e6e6e6} p.bbpTweet span.metadata span.author{line-height:19px} p.bbpTweet span.metadata span.author img{float:left;margin:0 7px
Hyper-connected, or Stretched Too Thin

An acquaintance of mine lost a child a few weeks back, and I am just now finding out about it. That makes me sad. Twice. Once because of his loss, because it was completely unexpected. And to a far lesser degree, once because I was so out-of-the-loop I didn’t catch it. But why am I

If we can’t get what we need, we’ll grow our own. (More from the mcarp archives… the prophetic genius and brilliance are his; the ones/zeros, pixels, pictures and subheads and pull-quotes are mine.) This is the very last of the mcarp essays, written over a decade ago by former broadcast journalist Michael Carpenter. I got
Content Is King! Long Live the King!

Content is king. It started with a Tweet by Jeremy Meyers, that said the following: “Ironically, content about how “Content is King” is not an example of good content.” I responded with: “If Content were King, then Pink would have stayed dry.” I was referring, of course, to Pink’s performance at the Grammy Awards, where

Owning My Links

Part of the reason I started noodling with WordPress was the ability to “own” my own site. Not have it hosted elsewhere, not beholden to anyone else’s whims and limitations. I can do what I want with the template and the look and the feel and the content. I can even move the URL around,

Usually, I have a good idea why people come to this site. I use the free Sitemeter tool to track hits, and as I generally have low traffic and no ads, that’s decent enough for me. Sitemeter tracks the last 100 visitors, and let’s me know (among other things) the page they hit, how long

It was time for a new look. I liked the old look, but there was something about the old “old look” that was missing. Yet, the “old” old look lacked several features. This look will get some tweaking in the meantime.

I saw the news early this morning that a University of Alabama starting defensive end, Brandon Deaderick was shot outside his apartment late last night during a robbery attempt. He’s in good condition with a wounded forearm, and there will be a statement from Coach Nick Saban sometime so0n. It would surprise me if Deaderick

The following is cross-posted at the Social South website – please comment there. “One of these things is not like the other.” If you remember the song from Sesame Street, feel free to sing, sing along. Looking back on the lineup from the inaugural Social South, it was clear that one of the presentations was

Dear Sir:
That hit from Richmond is actually from Downtown Birmingham, as my place of employment routes all traffic through our servers there.
So, get thee back to Orphalese, Almustafa…
